Vocal Booth - Construction Phase 1
We've begun construction of our studio vocal booth! With 64 Sq. Ft of studio foam installed for the first phase of construction, we're heading towards a future with both a fully functional and acoustically correct Live Room, and a comfortably sized vocal booth capable of recording groups of vocalists at one time!
INNO - Electronic Duo
INNO, a duo of electronic music producers have joined the queue for Project Cantus Fluere! As we amass more people to collaborate, we look forward to hearing how their electronic elements merge with other musicians in our program!
HUE Integration - Completion!
After months of investment, the entire Studio space is completely lit by Phillips HUE Smart lighting for an unforgettably immersive recording and listening experience.
Monte Bates - Restoring the Classics
Monte Bates came to our studio in hopes of restoring some love songs he'd recorded to tape in the 70's, and adding additional instruments for a modern twist. Turns out he was giving our finished products to his wife for a Christmas gift.
Tidal - Strike a Pose
Tidal's Mariette Heubel and Cody Kuuttila gave us some great poses. This one seemed the most dynamic! You can check them out on [Facebook] , [Twitter] , and [Soundcloud] !
Tidal - Striking up
Taking advantage of the studio's drum-optimized layout, Tidal brings with them tons of great drum-micing gear, courtesy of Jay Rodel!
Tidal - Welcome our First Guests!
These guys are great. Tidal is recording drum tracks for their upcoming full-length album here at Cantus Fluere Studios. A daunting 14 tracks will take two days of recording to complete!
Data Security - Glyph Backup
Anything you record here at Cantus Fluere Studios will now be backed up to a secure, studio grade HDD for redundant storage. Rest assured, your sessions are safe with us.
HUE Integration - LED Overhaul
We've replaced all the lights in the studio with 6000K LED bulbs for energy efficiency and daylight emulation. We've also begun integrating Phillips Hue lighting for a dynamic, unforgettable studio experience. Come over and check out the new renovations!
Diffuser Mounting - North Wall
With the studio insignia painted in the center, the north assembly is now complete. (Until we add new gear, of course.)
Diffuser Mounting - East Wall
The wood and color looks excellent. It ties the room together, and functions well as a low profile diffuser. Enjoy.
Diffusers Day 4 - Assembly
Finally, we begin constructing the diffusers. perhaps a final coat of stain afterwords will make the color pop a little bit more?
Diffusers Day 3 - Long nights
Consistently working until sundown, and sometimes after, it's taken us longer to complete this project than we'd expected, but for engineers of the audio variety, we feel we're doing well as carpenters.
Diffusers Day 3 - Stain Coat 2
The wood grain shows nicely through the stain we've applied. By the end of the day, we hope to begin assembly.
Diffusers Day 2 - Winding Down
As the sun begins to set, Code 0, Aura and Trybal [Left to Right respectively] take time out to breathe. Some are clearly more tired than others.
Diffusers Day 2 - Exhaustion
After another long day of slicing and sanding, the construction is winding down. Day three should leave things well towards completion.
Diffusers Day 2 - More Stain
Coat one is applied to all the cut wood, with only a few more cuts to make all 8 diffusers ready for assembly.
Diffusers Day 2 - Stain Application
It's looking like 2-3 coats of stain will do the trick to get these diffusers a deep, rich red.
Diffusers Day 1 - Satisfaction
The sun is starting to go down, but we're pumped to start construction in the morning. Code 0 approves.
Diffusers Day 1 - Skeletons
While the finished product won't have this exact shape, we've consolidated enough cuts to begin staining and piecing together our work!
Diffusers Day 1 - Initial Cuts
Code 0 (Pictured) joins Trybal and Aura for the construction of our audio diffuses. We've got a long road ahead of us, but if you're going to do it right, you've got to do it yourself.
Paint and Foam - West Wall
A view of our vibrant kitchen from the central studio space, foam dotting the walls.
Paint and Foam - East Wall
A wall saturated in crimson, soon with darker red diffusers to accent it. We're excited.
Paint and Foam - North Wall
Things are looking great. The Central Console feels right at home. Home-made audio diffusers will fill out that ugly blank space in the center.
Pre-painting - North Wall
One last look at the drab, plain off-white we were greeted with. Time to add some vibrancy!
Gear Placement - Cable Shelves
Vertical integration for cable organization means clients can grab cables they need instantly. Cables routed through the back of this unit will carry audio and gigabit LAN through the space!
Gear Consolidation - Reflection
The essence of the old studio space, gutted out and condensed into a small array of boxes. Its new home will be far better suited to its use.
Paint Aquisition - Ready to Move!
Plenty of paint, and we just may run out when we put everything together. Only time will tell. Move in is scheduled for two weeks form now.
Paint Aquisition - Genesis
We cleared our local Menards out of semi-gloss Dutchboy primer, so we had to travel to another to pick up the rest. Excited to get everything in the new place painted! That's Trybal, the studio assistant with the shopping cart.
